2015 AGM. Short and Sweet

2015 AGM: KWC - A Healthy Wargames Club !

The KWC had its annual AGM this Thursday. The AGM was brief and to the point.

Committee office bearers were re-elected, with Sam Campbell again the president, Fern the Secretary and Hamish the Treasurer. Formal portfolios were abolished for the other committee members with an uninimous vote to move to committee-members-at-large, rather than set portfolios.

There was a shortage of Junior members present, so the election of junior representatives (under 16s) was held over until the next club meeting. Likewise the election of a club captain, as the existing club captain, Dave Oemcke was also not present at the AGM due to a prior engagement.

Financial statements will be presented at the next club night too, but the treasurer assured the club that balance sheet is in the green. Current club fees and memberships fully cover the outgoings, with an end of-year surplus which was put towards the purchase of new terrain, specifically in the realm of 40K and SF Fantasy. Current membership stands just short of 50 active members, with average attendance of club nights between 20 and 35 players.

It was decided not to increase the door fees, and to maintain the current 10-ticket discount system.
The out-going committee was thanked for their efforts during 2014, and the president in particular applauded. Our inclusiveness and youth-friendliness was again lauded.

8 Years, and going strong in little ol' Kapiti!
Great going guys! An alive and vibrant wargames club! Thanks to everyone that makes it work!

2015 Annual Scenery Workshop & BBQ

Sorry for the late email but am sending the details for our workshop. Every year we have a working bee to fix scenery and make new scenery for the club. This year we have;
- Approximately two tubs full of scenery to patch up, reflock, do general repairs.
- Some new scenery donated by Matt to stick together.
- Asteroids and space stuff to make for Xwing/Firestorm Armada games (bring spare GW flight bases if you have any spare)
- Fields, fences and hedges.
- any other ideas are welcome (i have leftover flock and stuff from last year's scenery workshop and extras, please bring materials if you need)
Please bear in mind we wont be building big stuff as we still have to confirm with the community centre how much room we will have in the new year.

We will also be deciding what to spend up to $500 of our subscription money on for scenery purchases, so if you want a say in what the club purchases you need to turn up, I'm happy to recieve suggestions but we vote on the day.

BYO food and drink as we will be BBQing from 1pm
When Saturday 10th January from 10am till whenever.

Please RSVP in comments and I will send you our address.

Swap meet a huge success

KWC 2014 Swap Meet a resounding success

Last weekend saw the 3rd annual Kapiti Wargames Club Swap Meet

Gamers came from all over the region, Wellington to Palmerston North, the bring their wares, swap, trade and socialise. When the dealing was done, a few impromptu WHFB and LOTR games took place, and also a BBQ and Fluff Fest. Before we realised what had happened, we had spent 3 hours solid talking gaming, WHFB fluff and tournaments, strategy and speculation on the End Times, 9th Ed, etc, etc,  Ok, blame the wine, beer and BBQ, great weather and great company

Alter a brief pause for dinner the group launched into a round of Munchkin. A hugely addictive card game. Feel another addiction coming on...

Anyhow, a great time was had by all. Personally I found some slayers for my Dwarven throng, Vampire Characters, some useful sprue bits, and an Empire Engineer. Luc found a great deal on half a Lizardmen army, Kroxigors galore, and teranodons. In amongst the Kroxigors were 3 Fimir! Oh yes, and I got a Vargulf at a steal!

Generic Fimir pic off the net

Generally hard to come by, with a cult following these three beasts will make a useful addition, either fielded as Kroxigors, as which they were painted, or in Storm of Magic games.

Click HERE for a link to Mr Saturday's Mumblings, a blog I follow with great Fimir models and conversions.

Cheers for now,
Herman

Inepticon '14

KWC presents to you "Inepticon '14" Warhammer Fantasy Tournament on the 6th/7th of December. So a few of those who were at NZTC got talking about how it's really quiet around master's weekendand how we'd really like their to be an alternate tournament on at the same time. It's for those who miss the cut, don't have the time to give all to get ranking points or just don't give 2 hoots.

This is our first Warhammer Tournament and we're intending it to be a bit of a fun event this year. I will be taking registrations of interest from this Friday 26/09/14. Details are in the Player's pack.

We intend to run a more serious event at another time.
